Ange Postecoglou has a pop at ungrateful West Ham fans but it's obvious he's being disingenuous

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has taken a clear and obvious swipe at the West Ham United fans.

Ange Postecoglou takes his Tottenham side to the London Stadium to take on West Ham in the Premier League tonight.

After Saturday’s disastrous result away at Newcastle, the Hammers desperately need a win tonight, and Paul Merson thinks that’s exactly what will happen.

David Moyes is feeling the heat right now, and a defeat tonight would see the pressure really crank up on the Scot.

Graham Potter is apparently being lined up to replace Moyes in the summer, but if we finish the season strongly it will be hard to part ways with the 60-year-old.

There are those who are grateful for Moyes and the job that he’s done at the London Stadium, but have grown tired of his negative approach to games and the dull brand of football that he implements.

And now Ange has had his say on the Scot’s current situation at West Ham…

The Spurs manager addressed the media yesterday ahead of the huge London Derby tonight.

Postecoglou was asked about the job Moyes has done at West Ham, and he responded with a glowing tribute to the Scot.

However, Ange clearly took a cheeky swipe at the Hammers fans who want him gone as well, as quoted by Tottenham’s official website:

“I think he’s an outstanding manager. I rate him so highly. He is one of the ones I have always rated highly. Longevity in the game means something, especially at this level. Whether it was at Everton or the difficult job he had at Man United, he went abroad and has never stopped coaching. I think he has done a brilliant job at West Ham and anyone that thinks otherwise… the team they are today, the players they’ve got there, they have some high-quality footballers in that team, and I think they’re going to get better.”

The ‘anyone that thinks otherwise’ line really got me. It was a blatant dig from Ange at the Hammers fans who want Moyes gone.

I’m sorry, but why do we have to be happy with seventh or eighth place in the table because we’re ‘little old West Ham’?

Why can supporters of clubs like Spurs and Aston Villa demand more but when we do it we’re told that we’re getting above our station?

It drives me crazy. Yes Moyes has done a good job at West Ham but can he take us to another level? No is the answer to that question as far as I’m concerned.

Im sick and tired of opposing mangers or fans of other clubs having their say on our club, when they don’t watch us week in, week out.

I’m no fool Ange, and can see through those comments with ease. If you’re such a big fan of Moyes and what he’s done at West Ham, why do you deploy a polar opposite system to the Scot with completely different tactics?

Postecoglou had a clear pop at the West Ham fans ahead of tonight’s clash with Tottenham, but it was so obvious to see that his comments were disingenuous.
