All eight Harry Potter movies are now available to watch from home

Seeing Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone for the first time was a pivotal moment for a generation of children, but even after over two decades since the 2001 blockbuster was released, it’s still brilliant enough to make audiences believe in cinematic magic. As an adult revisiting the classic that started it all, it’s wonderful to see the film has lost none of its power. Neither have the seven sequels that followed up until the concluding chapter in 2011. With the flick of a wand, all eight installments are back on one streaming platform too…

Harry Potter movies streaming on HBO Max

All eight Harry Potter movies were added to the Max library (formerly HBO Max) on Monday, April 1st 2024.

A handful of fans took to Twitter in March to vent their frustrations, noticing that the films were once on the platform but had been mysteriously removed. Fortunately, Max has cast a mighty spell to restore order and bring them back to the platform.

For those who are a little rusty on their wizarding knowledge, the viewing order is as follows:

  • Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone
  • Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
  • Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
  • Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
  • Harry Potter And The Order Of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince
  • Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1
  • Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2

Not only are the films available, but also Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone: Magical Movie Mode, which is an interactive experience that comes with exciting activities, trivia, etc.

If you only have time tonight for one, my personal favorite is The Prisoner Of Azkaban—just a suggestion!

HBO is developing Harry Potter TV series

The Harry Potter movies will continue to attract new audiences for many years to come, but that doesn’t mean the J.K. Rowling books can’t be adapted again.

In fact, HBO is currently developing a TV series that will adapt all seven of the original novels.

“The new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years,” said Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, of HBO & Max Content, as reported by Deadline.

Teasing that it will be “a faithful adaptation,” fans have been desperate for more details but are yet to learn about casting.

The series itself is anticipated to begin premiering sometime in 2026. Until then, let the magic flow with the movies that, quite frankly, will be near-impossible to beat. Alas, if I could conjure a spell, it would be to get Adam Driver cast as Severus Snape (formerly portrayed by Alan Rickman) immediately.
