Report: Ineos increasingly keen on Julian Nagelsmann, Man Utd already linked with one of his favourite players

Manchester United are set for a big summer with Ineos yet to make a decision on Erik ten Hag, and that only means more and more manager rumours are going to surface.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co will be studying every single part of United’s structure and nobody is safe right now.

That certainly includes boss Erik ten Hag, who surely cannot feel comfortable in his position as things stand.

The Dutchman hasn’t kicked on from last season’s promising campaign and his team have actually regressed considerably this term.

The level of performance just isn’t good enough and that won’t be acceptable to either Ratcliffe or Sir Dave Brailsford.

Ineos will take their time to weigh up Ten Hag’s future but will surely be looking at the market for potential replacements this summer.

Manchester United increasingly keen on Euro 2024 boss

We have seen the likes of Gareth Southgate, Thomas Frank and Gary O’Neil mentioned, which surely won’t excite the United fanbase.

Graham Potter would be met with similar doubts but links to Brighton and Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi are maybe a little more exciting.

There is now another name in the mix – and he’s arguably the biggest name of the lot.

The Independent claim that Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann is ‘of increasing interest’ to United this summer.

Nagelsmann will take charge of Germany at Euro 2024 but could be tempted back to club management.

The 36-year-old was surprising axed by Bayern Munich last season and the German giants have regressed since his exit.

Ineos appear to be tempted by Nagelsmann and the German could end up reuniting with one of his favourite players if recent United rumours are anything to go by.

Julian Nagelsmann favourite wanted at Old Trafford

Reports last week suggested that United are interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano.

Upamecano featured prominently under Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig before reuniting at Bayern in 2021.

The Frenchman continued to play regularly under Nagelsmann and no player has played more games under Nagelsmann than Upamecano with 151 games to his name.

Upamecano has previously hailed Nagelsmann’s coaching style and would surely love to join forces again if United come calling.

Ineos won’t be making any decisions just yet – not on a managerial appointment nor on a potential signing, especially one who would cost as much as Upamecano.

This connection is an interesting one though and if Nagelsmann can be secured, don’t be surprised to see Upamecano follow.
