Peter Navarro begs yet another Supreme Court justice to get him out of jail

Former Trump White House Advisor Peter Navarro talks to the media as he leaves federal court on June 3, 2022 in Washington, DC. A federal grand jury indicted former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro for contempt of Congress after refusing to cooperate with the House January 6 Committees investigation.

Peter Navarro is again begging a Supreme Court Justice to help him get out of jail, according to a new report.

The onetime aide to former President Donald Trump, whose request was previously denied by Justice John Roberts, is now asking Justice Neil Gorsuch to consider his motion to stay out of jail as he pursues an appeal to his conviction, Newsweek reported Tuesday.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court refused to put on hold Navarro's prison sentence as he appeals his conviction. As Newsweek points out, Navarro began serving his four-month sentence earlier this month on March 19.

Navarro wasfound guilty of misdemeanor charges for refusing to cooperate with a congressional investigation into the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. He had previously asked to stay free while his conviction was appealed.

"Pursuant to Rule 22(4) of the Rules of the Supreme Court of the United States, we respectfully request that our application for an order staying the execution of the district court’s order requiring Dr. Navarro submit to the custody of the Bureau of Prisons be renewed with the Honorable Associate Justice Gorsuch," read a filing from Navarro's lawyers.

"Dr. Peter K. Navarro self-surrendered to the custody of the Bureau of Prisons on March 19, 2024 and has now served fifteen (15) days of his four (4) month sentence. Of note, on March 26, 2024, the D.C. Circuit set a briefing schedule in his appeal, providing that briefing will not be concluded until July 19, 2024, after he is scheduled to have served the entirety of his prison sentence. Accordingly, we respectfully request your reconsideration of the Chief Justice’s denial," the April 2 filing continued.

Navarro previously claimed that he couldn't cooperate with the Jan. 6 committee because Trump had invoked executive privilege — an argument that was rejected by lower court for lack of evidence.
