£25m player isn't happy at loan club, he's coming back to Chelsea in the summer - Fabrizio Romano

Chelsea have sent quite a few of their players out on loan this season.

The above includes the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kepa Arrizabalaga, who joined AS Roma and Real Madrid respectively last summer.

Right now, one Chelsea loanee does not appear to be too happy at the club he is currently at and is set to return to Stamford Bridge when the season ends.

The Blues are likely to offload some of the players they allowed to leave on loan last summer as they look to stay in line with profit and sustainability regulations.

Journalist Simon Phillips recently claimed that Chelsea want to sell Kepa for at least £25m when the transfer window reopens.

Chelsea loanee set for Stamford Bridge return

The reliable Fabrizio Romano has been discussing the future of one Chelsea loanee.

The Blues strengthened in his position last summer, so there does not look to be room for him in Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad.

Whatever the case, Romano says he will return to west London after this campaign.

Speaking on his YouTube channel about Kepa and Real Madrid’s overall goalkeeper situation, Romano said: “What’s going to happen with Real Madrid goalkeepers is quite clear. Thibaut Courtois will return at the beginning of next season; Real Madrid are waiting for him. [Andriy] Lunin is doing fantastic. Real Madrid are super happy with him. He’s with Jorge Mendes now as new agent.

“There is a negotiation ongoing over [a] new contract between Lunin and Real Madrid. They want him to stay, waiting for the player green light, and then Kepa will return to Chelsea. Kepa will not stay at Real Madrid, no intention to keep the player.

“Also, Kepa wanted to play more. He’s not super happy. Obviously, he’s super respectful of Real Madrid. It’s still a dream for him to be at Real Madrid, but he wanted to play more. He was not expecting this kind of situation and so Kepa is leaving at the end of the season, returning to Chelsea.”

Why Kepa Arrizabalaga has no Chelsea future

While it now looks likely that Kepa will return to Chelsea in the summer when his loan at Real Madrid finishes, he is not going to end up staying there.

Pochettino already has Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez, while the Blues could also add another shot-stopper to their squad.

Arsenal are expected to sell Aaron Ramsdale when the transfer market opens, a player who Chelsea have been linked with for a while now.

Even if he returns, there is no way back into the first team for Kepa.
