‘So bad’: Pundit noticed James Maddison really wasn’t happy with £15m Tottenham player last night

Tottenham were held to a draw by West Ham on Tuesday evening.

Ange Postecoglou’s side struggled to break the Hammers down at the London Stadium, and they came away with just a point.

This result could be huge in the race for the top four, and Spurs may well live to regret not taking their chances against the Hammers.

Spurs did have a few good opportunities in an attacking sense, but, frustratingly, Tottenham’s attacks consistently broke down, and speaking on Off The Ball, Keith Treacy has highlighted one player who was too inconsistent on the night, claiming that James Maddison looked frustrated with one of his teammates in particular.

James Maddison was frustrated by one teammate

Treacy spoke about Timo Werner’s performance, highlighting how Maddison looked annoyed with him.

“Timo Werner, this boy, he blows so hot and cold. The assist for Brennan Johnson’s goal is really good, but two minutes later he gets the ball and it’s a little ball into Maddison and he misplaces it and you can see Maddison looking at him like ‘My god, it’s a five-yard pass’. He just really infuriates you, he’s so good and so bad as well,” Treacy said.

Timo Werner is frustrating

James Maddison looked to be annoyed with the £15m man against West Ham, and we can absolutely understand why.

The German is such a frustrating player. One moment he looks like a world-class player, but in the next breath, he looks clueless.

Werner is lacking something, whether that’s confidence or ability is up for debate, but the reality is that he can’t keep playing like this if Tottenham do want to push on to that next level.

Werner could be a quality player if he was playing at his best every week and in every moment, but he really is too inconsistent to be considered an elite footballer.
