‘I didn’t actually think’: Pundit says 25-year-old Liverpool player has proven him wrong this season

Liverpool have proven a lot of people wrong this season.

After finishing fifth last term and losing a number of important players this summer, many wondered whether or not Liverpool could even break back into the top four, but, instead, they’re flying at the very top of the Premier League.

The Merseyside club have shut all of their doubters up, and one player in particular has proven a number of people wrong, including Michael Bridges.

Michael Bridges was wrong about one Liverpool player

Speaking on the Optus Sport Football Podcast, Michael Bridges has stated that he was wrong about Alexis Mac Allister heading into this season.

The pundit says that he genuinely didn’t think that Mac Allister had much more room to improve this term, but he says that he’s now actually reached another level.

“Mac Allister for Liverpool, what a player, I have admired him for a number of years. I didn’t actually think he could get any better than he was in the past when he went to Brighton and the international level, but he has, he’s playing with better players around him and his game has gone to a new level.” Bridges said.

Alexis Mac Allister’s upward trajectory

We’ve not seen a player on this sort of upward trajectory in a long time.

Mac Allister seems to have this scary knack to improve every single year.

From Boca Juniors, to Brighton, to Argentina to Liverpool, every single season Mac Allister seems to either add something new to his game or refine his style.

The midfielder is clearly a player who takes a lot of what his coaches tell him on board, and if he continues to improve in this way over the coming years, he could well be one of the best players in the world.

Mac Allister has really stepped up this season, and he’s now undoubtedly one of Liverpool’s best players.
