Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo suggested Wednesday that the 2024 election might be "tampered with," even though Fox News agreed to pay out nearly $800 million to Dominion Voting Systems for false election fraud claims its hosts have made in the past.

Bartiromo, whose reporting was a cornerstone of Dominion's defamation case, made the remarks Wednesday during an interview with Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley. A video clip of the TV host was shared on social media.

"Well, it certainly doesn't appear that Joe Biden can win on his policies," Bartiromo said, pointing to new polling that shows the president trailing in some swing states. "So how does Biden win?"

"Republicans are talking about the potential of an election that is tampered with," she continued. "Republicans are warning that there is a Biden order, executive order, which allows illegal immigrants and felons to vote."

For his part, Whatley touted the RNC's recent success at fundraising.

"Well, that sounds all good," Bartiromo replied. "But at the end of the day, it's about who counts the votes, right?"

"You've got worries about this open border, meaning that illegals will be able to vote in this upcoming election," she added. "What are you doing about a transparent election?"

Whatley said the RNC was "involved in over 80 different lawsuits in 24 different states."

"And we're going to continue to fight for election integrity," he insisted. "So we're going to be recruiting and training tens of thousands of volunteers and hundreds of attorneys in every one of our battleground states all across the country to make sure that we are going to have a fair election."

Bartiromo became a central figure in Dominion's $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox News for defamation.

"I want to see massive fraud exposed," Bartiromo wrote to former Trump adviser Steve Bannon in one text message uncovered by the litigation. "Will (Trump) be able to turn this around. I told my team we're not allowed to say pres elect. Not in scripts. Not in banners on air. Until this moves through the courts."

In April 2023, Fox News agreed to a $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems.

"The truth matters. Lies have consequences," Dominion lawyer Justin Nelson said following the agreement.
