Rangers now face almighty Old Firm call on reported £6m attacker

Abdallah Sima probably had the weekend’s Rangers v Celtic clash pencilled into his diary when he picked up an injury in January.

The Senegalese forward, 22, was cruelly crocked on AFCON duties after receiving a recall to his national side.

Over two months on, Abdallah Sima made his return for Rangers by coming off the bench in the 3-1 victory over Hibs at the weekend.

Now, Philippe Clement faces one almighty dilemma when it comes to the forward and whether or not Rangers’ returning 15-goal hitman starts the Old Firm clash with Celtic.

How will Rangers use Abdallah Sima v Celtic?

Whilst every member of the Rangers first-team will be desperate to start against Celtic, it’s likely Clement’s team will also have a heavy focus on the bench.

The Belgian has shown a penchant for squad rotation since joining the club with a focus on introducing players throughout the match.

Philippe Clement understands that, more than ever, football is a squad game and if you are part of the Belgian’s team, then you will likely get a chance to impress.

For Abdallah Sima, we wonder if the £6m Brighton forward has managed to convince Clement that he deserves to shine from the off against Celtic.

Or if the plan is to utilise the pacey attacker from the bench for the final 20-30 minutes of the game.

Fabio Silva pushing for start

Abdallah Sima might be one of Rangers’ best attacking threats, but that left-wing berth has been claimed by Fabio Silva in recent weeks.

One of two potential Old Firm debutants in the fixture this weekend, the Portuguese attacker has made an impression since joining on loan from Wolves in January.

A tireless yet creative forward who has shown flashes of quality, it’s just about putting it together more often for the 21-year-old.

Whatever the case – whether Clement opts to start with Sima or Silva – we suspect both will be involved in the match in some capacity.

But when that might be could be crucial to Rangers collecting all three points with some enthralling battles set to take place across the pitch.
