'Lost for words': Phil Foden raves over Man City's 'most important player' who actually has zero weaknesses

Manchester City star Phil Foden believes he is currently playing alongside somebody with zero weaknesses in their game.

Foden played a starring role last night in the 4-1 in over Aston Villa, as Manchester City returned to winning ways against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.

Foden hit a brilliant hat-trick against Unai Emery’s side, showing tremendous character after not having his best outing against Arsenal on Sunday. The academy graduate bagged a free-kick in the first-half, before adding two more – including a special third – in the second.

It was a much-improved performance from City. It was important to win, given Arsenal had beaten Luton Town.

The man who got the ball rolling last night though was Rodri – and it was another typically special performance from the Spaniard in midfield.

After the game, Foden raved about his teammate…

Foden was invited to speak to the TNT Sports punditry team after scoring his hat-trick against Villa.

He had been given the Player of the Match award by Ally McCoist towards the end of the game, with the Scot also comparing him to Paul Gascoigne at one point.

It was a special display by Foden, who will be the talk of the town in the coming days.

But the England star was quick to praise Rodri, who produced yet another sensational performance in midfield.

After scoring the opener, Rodri just completely controlled the game, and then also showed some stunning footwork to create Foden’s second goal.

Foden said after the game on TNT Sports: “Lost for words, this guy mate. He can do everything. For me, yeah (best holding midfielder in football), 100%. He can do everything. He’s adding goals to his game, you see it in and around the box, he can dribble. I don’t see a weakness to his game, for me he’s our most important player. When he doesn’t play, there’s a big difference.”

Rodri may currently be the best player in the world

At the moment, it is hard to think of a better footballer on the planet than Rodri.

It is just like Foden says – the man can do absolutely everything, and he doesn’t have any weaknesses.

It is quite extraordinary to watch him completely boss games week in, week out. He is now up to eight goals for the season which is his best tally ever in a single season. That just shows he is much more than just a holding midfielder.

Foden says he is City’s most important player, and there can be zero doubt about that now.

We have seen the impact it has when he doesn’t play, and that is why it is absolutely crucial that he stays available for the remainder of the season.
