'All a bit delicate': Roy Keane now takes dig at Pep Guardiola and Man City

Roy Keane has been unafraid to take a dig at Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

Keane is never one to mince his words but despite his allegiances to Manchester United, he has given City the respect they deserve in the past.

For instance, during a conversation about whether the Sky Blues’ dominance is boring, the Irishman disagreed and expressed his admiration for how brilliant they are to watch.

In December, Roy Keane also admitted that if given a chance to work with either Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp, he would choose the former.

There is plenty of evidence to suggest that despite being a massive United legend, Keane leaves his red hat to the side and appreciates City’s greatness.

Several pundits tend not to when it comes to rival teams but in this sense, the Champions League winner acts in an admirable fashion.

Roy Keane aims fresh dig at Pep Guardiola and Manchester City

In all fairness, unless a pundit wishes to put their unpopular opinion out there about Pep Guardiola or his Manchester City side, there simply is not much to criticise about them.

Since dominating English football, Guardiola’s side have played a brand of football that has largely been a joy to watch, especially during the “Centurions” campaign.

As far as their European pedigree goes, the Sky Blues have silenced their naysayers by winning the treble as well.

In terms of City’s influence on other teams, even Bruno Fernandes admitted that every side is trying to play like them.

However, after Pep Guardiola defended Erling Haaland when Roy Keane likened him to a League Two player, the pundit bit back.

“That doesn’t mean Pep [Guardiola] is right. Everyone thinks Pep is right all the time. I have watched Man City for the last 10 years and I don’t think I have ever criticised him once, or any of the players and then they all get a bit upset.”

“All a bit delicate, aren’t they?”, he said on The Overlap’s Stick To Football.

Not just Pep Guardiola but even Chris Sutton described the comments from Roy Keane about Erling Haaland as “ridiculous.”

Even Rio Ferdinand claimed that such remarks from his former Manchester United teammate were “far-fetched.”

Strange conclusion about Pep Guardiola and the Manchester City players

In our view, one cannot see how Roy Keane has concluded that Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland after upset by his comments.

Guardiola simply defended Haaland and explained that his lack of involvement against Arsenal was less his fault and more due to the fact that City did not have enough bodies in the final third.

As a result, the Norwegian, who was seemingly tasked to stay up the pitch was surrounded by several markers.

That is simply a tactical explanation of the 23-year-old’s performance by the £378,846-a-week man against Arsenal.

While no Manchester City player is yet to respond to Roy Keane’s comments.

As a result, the conclusion Keane has arrived at does not seem to quite add up.
