Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane agree on who's winning this weekend between Newcastle and Fulham

It’s difficult to know what to make of Newcastle United right now.

While the performances against West Ham and Everton have broadly been pretty good, there remain caveats when trying to predict Newcastle’s Premier League finish.

Indeed, Eddie Howe’s side remain beset by injuries, to the point where the likes of Joe Cole have even questioned exactly what is going on behind the scenes at the club.

Then there’s the defence.

Newcastle boasted the joint-tightest backline in the League last season but they are now letting in goals from left, right and centre.

With that in mind, they remain thoroughly unpredictable ahead of this weekend’s trip to Fulham.

Worryingly, the Cottagers have been solid enough at home, too.

Newcastle are only one of six teams to have picked up more points at home this season than the Cottagers (28) and they’ve taken scalps such as Arsenal at Craven Cottage.

Beaten in disappointing fashion by relegation-battling Nottingham Forest earlier this week, manager Marco Silva will surely be expecting a reaction.

So too are Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane.

Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane predict what will happen between Fulham and Newcastle

Speaking on the recent episode of the Stick to Football podcast, Keane said: “Fulham are winning this all day. They are on the back of a shocker against Forest.”

Carragher then added: “I think Fulham will win. Newcastle have got big injuries.”

Fulham vs Newcastle is a big game for Eddie Howe

If Newcastle can win this, then it will represent quite the return from the international break for Newcastle.

Seven points against West Ham, Everton and Fulham would be some showing given the seemingly constant spate of injuries and growing inability to defend.

That, however, is easier said than done of course.

Newcastle have already won at Craven Cottage in the FA Cup this season but Fulham have been strong at home throughout the campaign and could cause major problems.
