‘Unbelievable’: Jamie O’Hara thinks Cole Palmer can be as good as ‘generational’ Premier League star

Pundit Jamie O’Hara has now claimed that Cole Palmer is a player that Chelsea should absolutely be building their team around right now.

He told TalkSPORT as well that he believes the 21-year-old can become as good as one of the best players to ever grace the Premier League too.

Palmer had arguably his finest night in a Chelsea shirt last night when he scored three goals in the thrilling 4-3 win against Manchester United.

Palmer makes Premier League history with late goal

The last two strikes came in the space of 90 seconds at the end of the game, with him actually scoring the latest winning goal in Premier League history.

He sent Stamford Bridge into raptures at the end of the game, not least Mauricio Pochettino, who showed emotion rarely seen since he came into the club.

It has not taken long for plaudits to come in for the England international, who certainly made a statement to his international manager Gareth Southgate in a match that included a number of budding Three Lions stars.

O’Hara compares Palmer to Bale

O’Hara has now compared the Chelsea man to Gareth Bale, saying he can be as influential as he was at Tottenham on Pochettino’s current side.

He said: “He is unbelievable and he is ice cold. It’s not easy to step up and take a penalty in the big moments. He is something else. You have to build this team around him.

“Watching him tonight, Pochettino, at the end and the way Cole Palmer comes over to him and gives him a hug, it almost reminds me when Gareth Bale was at Tottenham and Bale basically single handedly carried that team with Pochettino for a few seasons. That’s where I think Cole Palmer can get to, that’s the levels I think he is at.”

Bale’s time in the game will clearly go down as extremely successful, and he is already remembered as one of the most impactful players in the history of the Premier League.

He was described as ‘generational’ by notorious Welsh football fan Elis James, and if Palmer can get anywhere near that level he will have enjoyed an extremely successful career in the game.
