Derailed train between Slough and London Paddington and ASLEF strikes cause rail network problems near Newbury

A derailed train and industrial strikes are causing problems on the rail network this morning.

A freight train has derailed between Slough and London Paddington, causing routes between Reading and the capital to be blocked.

Great Western Railway (GWR) have stated that train services running to and from Reading and London Paddington will be cancelled, delayed or revised.

The disruption is expected to last until midday,

Travellers hoping to travel to London this morning should check the GWR website at http://rb.gy/wuqaq9 for alternative routes.

Train services across the GWR network will also be disrupted by members of the ASLEF union engaging in industrial action today, as well as on April 8 and 9.

GWR has advised its customers to check before travelling.
