'Terrible': Jason Cundy says two Chelsea players were dreadful in the win against Manchester United

Chelsea’s squad must feel like it’s on cloud nine after a dramatic late win over Manchester United last night, but they certainly shouldn’t get too carried away because there’s still a lot of cracks in this team.

Chelsea and Man United played out a crazy Premier League game at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, which the Blues ended up winning 4-3 to earn three valuable points.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side went through the drama of taking an early two-goal lead before falling 3-2 behid. However, Chelsea somehow found two late goals deep into stoppage time to secure victory.

Next, Chelsea need to back the result up when they travel to Sheffield United on Sunday. We think Blues head coach Pochettino may have some big decisions to make with his starting line-up.

Jason Cundy rips into Chelsea duo

Despite Chelsea’s dramatic win in midweek, Jason Cundy ripped into two Blues stars for their individual displays.

Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi, the two starting centre-backs, certainly had a tough time against Man United.

“Badiashile, what on earth are you doing [for Man United’s third goal]. Our two centre-halves have been terrible today,” Cundy said via Chelsea’s official app (9:40pm, 4 April).

“I’ve got no idea what he’s (Badiashile) is doing. It’s a throw-in, he tries to bring it down and is over the halfway line, leaves a chasm of space. This game has been a mess.”

Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi ratings

FotMob ratings didn’t reflect too kindly on either Badiashile or Disasi yesterday.

First up, Badiashile scored a 6.3 match rating for his shaky display versus Man United. As for his defensive partner Disasi, he ended up with a 6.4 rating before being substituted off the pitch.

As mentioned above, Chelsea’s central defenders switched off for the goals they conceded and these individual mistakes are s stacking up now against both players.

We initially liked the idea of French duo Badiashile and Disasi as the main starting partnership in defence, but we’re put off by it the more we see it. They’re too error-prone and uncertain in playing out from the back.
