‘You can’t defend it’: Pundit says 24-year-old Arsenal player did something inexcusable vs Luton

Arsenal beat Luton 2-0 on Wednesday evening in what was a very positive performance.

The Gunners were on top form as even some of their fringe players made a real impact.

Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe were both electric on the day, and there were a lot of positives to take from the game.

However, there was also a few negatives to take away, and one involved Kai Havertz.

Kai Havertz’s inexcusable action against Luton

Kai Havertz was booked for diving against Luton Town in what is becoming quite a regular part of his game now.

Indeed, there was quite the furore a few weeks ago when Havertz dived against Brentford – an incident that went unpunished at the time, and now, he’s been at it again.

Speaking on the Handbrake Off Podcast, Adrian Clarke has been discussing Havertz’s acts of simulation, and he says that you simply can’t defend the German’s actions here.

“That was a bad one, we don’t like to see that do we? You can’t defend it, as a supporter and someone who has to talk about football, you just have to say it how it is. If it’s two games to avoid two yellow cards, that’s not hard,” Clarke said.

Mikel Arteta needs to have a word with Kai Havertz

This is the second time in just a few weeks that Havertz has been at the centre of a diving controversy, and it may be time for his manager to have a word with him.

As Clarke says, Havertz is risking a ban with all of these yellow cards, and on top of that, it’s also pretty embarrassing.

Diving is one of the worst things a professional footballer can do, and this is something that Arteta needs to stamp out if he wants his team to be respected as champions.
