'Unbelievable': Ange Postecoglou says he has been so impressed with one Tottenham player's pressing recently

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has heaped praise on one of his players’ pressing recently.

Spurs returned to winning ways at the weekend with a hard-fought victory against Luton Town. It wasn’t an easy game by any means, but the North Londoners dug deep and got the job done.

Postecoglou was a happy man after the game, but there’s no time to celebrate. Games are coming thick and fast, and Tottenham are involved in a London derby tonight against West Ham United.

Ahead of the game, Postecoglou raved about one of his players.

Ange Postecoglou praises Tottenham player’s ‘unbelievable’ pressing

Tottenham have been transformed as a club since Ange Postecoglou‘s arrival.

Their style of play now is the complete opposite of what we saw when Antonio Conte was at the helm, and that has brought the best out of their attacking players.

Many of Spurs’ attackers deserve a ton of praise this season. Almost all of them have shown serious improvement compared to the last campaign.

One player in particular who has really stepped up is skipper Heung-min Son.

The Korean, who Micah Richards raved about recently, had a poor season last time out. The pressure was on him to deliver, but he was pushed further into the spotlight after Harry Kane‘s departure. Son was made the captain too, which is a big responsibility.

Thankfully for Tottenham fans, nothing has fazed Son, and he has been having an incredible season.

Postecoglou is delighted with Son’s contribution in front of goal, but he seems to be even more pleased with the way he has pressed recently.

He said, as per Football London: “It’s no secret in our team, part of our big strength is our ability to really be aggressive in the way we press other teams and that starts with our attacking players and that’s where Sonny has been unbelievable for us this year.

“Even at the weekend he kept harassing and chasing and we’ve scored a lot of goals this year from our front three really having an appetite to be our first form of defence.

“We’ve won a lot of balls in our front third from which invariably they are the beneficiaries of because they get their goals and assists but that’s a big part of it.”

Heung-min Son’s record against West Ham should give Tottenham hope

Tottenham‘s recent record at the London Stadium against West Ham United is not great at all.

Spurs have lost twice and drawn one of their last three Premier League games in East London. They haven’t looked great in any of those games. The last time they won at the London Stadium was back in November 2019.

That makes tonight’s game a tricky fixture, but Son has a terrific individual record against West Ham.

He has scored eight goals and provided six assists against the Hammers in 18 appearances against them, which is a solid return in a derby.

That should give Tottenham a lot of confidence going into the game tonight, despite their terrible record at the London Stadium.
