'Phenomenal...': Sky Sports pundit gives score prediction for QPR vs Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday head to QPR in the Championship on Saturday.

Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl head to the capital to face QPR on Saturday afternoon, for what remains a big game near the bottom of the table.

Rotherham United are the team in dead last and they could be relegated this weekend.

But the Owls are in 23rd and still in with a great chance of survival, though Rohl really needs to see this four-game winless run come to an end soon.

As things stand, Wednesday are two points adrift, whilst QPR, after a run of one defeat in eight games under Marti Cifuentes, are up in 16th and six points clear of the bottom three.

Sheffield Wednesday in their club history have beaten QPR 33 times, losing 26 and drawing 18.

Last time these two teams met, the Owls won 2-1 at Hillsborough, with Bailey Cadamarteri and Antony Musaba scoring late goals to seal a comeback win.

In fact, Wednesday have won three of their last five meetings with QPR, though the last time the Owls played at Loftus Road in the 2020/21 season, they lost 4-1.

Giving his score predictions for this weekend on the Official EFL Podcast, former Owls midfielder and now Sky Sports pundit David Prutton gave his verdict on QPR vs Sheffield Wednesday, saying:

“Under Cifuentes, they’ve been phenomenal… As for Wednesday, I’m not saying it’s become a bit of a myth, but there’s been good work being done at Wednesday by Danny Rohl, but his work hasn’t taken them away from any form of danger, has it? So, this will be tough. It’s one that screams of a QPR victory.”

Prutton predicts a 2-1 win for QPR against Wednesday.

Danny Rohl needs reaction from Middlesbrough defeat

Last time out, Sheffield Wednesday lost 2-0 at Middlesbrough.

But the scoreline flattered the Owls.

They looked very tired that afternoon and Rohl was as angry as we’ve ever seen him, with the apparent lack of effort really hitting home.

Four games without a win comes after a four-game winning streak for the Owls and so they know they’re capable of wins, and of beating the drop.

It may be about fitness now, though.

After such a long season and with few options to rotate and keep things fresh, it’s becoming difficult for Rohl and his players.

And a game against a rampant QPR side who are close to sealing their Championship status for another season will be extremely difficult for Sheffield Wednesday.

But Rohl has some players returning for this one and after beating QPR in dramatic fashion earlier this season, we could see another huge win for the Owls.

Kick off is at 3pm on Saturday.
