Antony breaks silence with message to Manchester United fans, agrees with Erik ten Hag's assessment

Antony has now broken his silence after Manchester United lost 4-3 against Chelsea on Thursday night, here’s what he said.

It was an incredible watch as Manchester United and Chelsea had a duel for the ages at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.

Erik ten Hag watched his side go 2-0 down inside 20 minutes, but a brace from Alejandro Garnacho, and a goal from club captain and No. 8 Bruno Fernandes turned the game on its head.

3-2 ahead in the 100th minute, Chelsea defied all odds and scored twice to win 4-3 in the end.

The headlines in the game were stolen by Antony who assisted the third for Garnacho.

Now these two have sent messages to the fanbase.

Antony sends Manchester United fans a message

After the game in which Antony continued to quietly begin proving himself in a United shirt, he sent fans a message via an Instagram comment.

He wrote: “We gave everything on the field. We left frustrated because we deserved to win this match.

“I pushed myself to my physical limit. No time to regret, total focus on Sunday!”

Antony mentions deserving to win the game, which is an opinion he shares with his boss. Ten Hag also stated after the loss that the loss was not the result United’s display warranted.

The late loss has had a big impact on the players as Garnacho also posted with a message of his own.

The No. 17 wrote: “Very hurt. We deserved more, we gave everything and we got nothing from this game.

“New opportunity on Sunday to show what we can do. Thanks to travelling fans for always supporting us.”

Was Manchester United unlucky against Chelsea?

In the game, neither side probably really deserved to win, with Chelsea relying on penalties and deflections, but ultimately the United defensive set-up was just too terrible to justify a win.

United had the higher highs in the game, but the XG tells the full story.

Without the two controversial Chelsea penalties, it would’ve been very close, with United just edging it.

So yes, we’d say Ten Hag and Antony were right to claim United deserved to win. But unfortunately, we don’t always get what is deserved in football.

When a corner is defended as badly as the Chelsea corner was which resulted in the winning goal, it’s hard to argue with the scoreline.
