Kentucky men’s basketball has expressed interest in Oklahoma transfer guard Javin McCollum.

According to The Portal Report, McCollum has been hearing from the likes of Kentucky, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Southern California, Vanderbilt, VCU, Georgia, Texas A&M, Michigan, and Florida since putting his name into the transfer portal on Tuesday.

As a junior with the Sooners in 2023-24, the 6-foot-1 McCollum averaged 13.3 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.6 rebounds in 31.1 minutes per contest. The Florida native shot 40.4 percent overall, 31.4 percent from distance, and 94.3 percent from the line.

McCollum began his college career at Siena where he spent two seasons with the Saints. As a freshman in 2021-22, he came off the bench to average 6.7 points and 1.8 assists per game. His numbers more than doubled as a sophomore in 2022-23 though: 15.9 points and 3.9 assists in 30.8 minutes per outing. McCollum started 25 of 27 games played that season and was named All-MAAC for his efforts.

At Oklahoma, he was tabbed as an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention after starting all 30 games for the Sooners. McCollum hit the 20-point mark four times last season, including a 23-point effort against Central Arkansas in December. Oklahoma finished 20-12 (8-10 Big 12) with McCollum leading the team in scoring.

Don’t be shocked if this recruitment wraps up quickly. According to On3’s Joe Tipton and 247Sports’ Travis Branham, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are the perceived leader to land his commitment.
