Tottenham now reportedly want £45m midfielder who's a 'mix between Paul Scholes and Kevin De Bruyne'

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has a reputation for routinely striking gold in the transfer market.

This has certainly proven the case since he arrived at Spurs, with numerous top signings arriving on his watch.

The likes of James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, Brennan Johnson and Radu Dragusin have all joined Tottenham since Postecoglou took the reins.

Indeed, Spurs signed Dragusin ahead of Bayern Munich, and they beat Barcelona to the signing of Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall.

Now, Tottenham could be looking to repeat their Maddison coup by signing one of his former teammates at Leicester City.

The player in question has described himself as a “mix between Paul Scholes and Kevin De Bruyne”, and Maddison has deemed him “brilliant”.

Tottenham eyeing Leicester star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

According to talkSPORT, Tottenham have set their sights on Foxes midfield star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The report claims that Spurs are looking at potential midfield recruitments, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg likely to leave N17 at the end of the season.

Tottenham are also said to have a good relationship with Leicester after signing Maddison from the King Power Stadium last summer.

The Foxes reportedly rejected bids from Brighton for Dewsbury-Hall, but they could be forced to sell in the summer after announcing losses of almost £90million earlier this week.

Spurs – or any other suitors – could be looking at paying around £45million for Dewsbury-Hall, added the report.

Dewsbury-Hall joined the Leicester academy as an eight-year-old and has risen through the ranks to become a first-team star.

The 25-year-old has made 123 competitive appearances for the Foxes, registering 16 goals and 19 assists.

Dewsbury-Hall has been in superb form this season. He has registered 11 goals and 13 assists in the Championship to help his side to third in the table.

The reported Tottenham target told Sky Sports back in 2022: “The ideal player to describe myself as would be a mix between Paul Scholes and Kevin De Bruyne.

“If I ever got to that level, I’d think I’d completed everything! That’d be me done.

“Scholes was my idol growing up. And I think De Bruyne’s the best midfielder in the Premier League.

“Having their attributes – the unbelievable passing, being so technically gifted, comfortable on the ball, the awareness and knowing all the space around you.

“That’s what I’m working towards in my game.”

All in all, Dewsbury-Hall looks like a great shout for Tottenham. Maddison will have probably put a few good words in for him too.
