‘Not going to lie’: Man City-owned player says he’d consider signing for Real Madrid

One of Manchester City’s loan players has claimed that he would consider signing for Real Madrid.

The Manchester club currently have a significant number of players out on loan at numerous clubs across Europe.

Now though, with the summer transfer window in sight, one of City’s loaned-out players has been speaking about potentially leaving the Citizens to potentially join another one of Europe’s top sides.

Speaking to Radio Catalunya, (via Mundo Deportivo), Yan Couto had this to say when asked about the reported transfer interest him from Real Madrid.

He said: “Playing for Madrid is an option if they are interested, I’m not going to lie. I’m a Manchester City player, I have a contract there and it’s my dream to play for City.”

City signed the right-back from Brazilian club Coritiba back in 2020. Since then, the 21-year-old has spent loan spells with clubs such as Braga and Girona, where he is currently in the second half of a two-year loan deal.

This season has seen the full-back score one goal and deliver seven assists in 28 La Liga appearances.

In addition to that, Couto has won more tackles than any other Girona player (27) as well as making more carries into the final third of the pitch (78) than any other player at the Spanish club in the league this season.

This highlights how effective he can be in and out of possession and why Real have been linked with a move for him.

With Couto set to return to City once his latest loan spell at Girona ends in the summer, his next move could be an interesting thing to keep an eye on.

Specifically, the Manchester club will have a decision on their hands to make in terms of potentially keeping the full-back in Pep Guardiola’s squad, loaning him out again or selling him should a suitable transfer offer comes their way.
