‘Big pleasure’: Mateo Kovacic says he absolutely loves working with ‘amazing’ £378k-p/w Man City man

Mateo Kovacic has highlighted one figure at Manchester City he loves working with.

The midfielder is approaching the end of his first season at the Manchester club since arriving from fellow Premier League side Chelsea in a deal worth £30m during the previous summer transfer window.

Now though, the Croatian has been reflecting on his time at the Etihad Stadium so far, picking out one figure he has particularly joined working alongside.

Speaking to the club’s media, Kovacic had this to say about his time at City so far and his admiration for Pep Guardiola.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed my time here. The team is amazing, and manager is great.

“I am still learning, improving and adapting. It’s really nice to be here. You can learn a lot here – even at my age. At 29/30, you can still improve and be a better player and that’s the reason I came here.

“He prepares so well for the games and looks into the detail. He explains everything so well. He’s a great manager and it’s a big pleasure to be learning from him. I hope we can have a lot of success together.”

During his time with City, the 29-year-old has made 35 appearances across all competitions prior to this weekend Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, starting 23 of them.

Across his 22 Premier League appearances, Kovacic has racked up a passing accuracy percentage of 93.4%, leaving only Ruben Dias (93.5%) in the City squad with a higher one.

Now that the summer recruit has highlighted how much he has enjoyed learning and working with the City boss, who is picking up a weekly wage of £378k-per-week, this should please a lot of City supporters and give them hope that Kovacic can become even better during his time at the club.
