David Raya made Arsenal and Premier League history in incredible stat after Brighton win

Arsenal strolled to a 3-0 win away at Brighton in what was an excellent victory in the crucial part of the title race.

The Gunners headed to the Amex Stadium to face a side who were unbeaten at home since August, and easily saw them off as Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and former Seagull Leandro Trossard scored.

Arsenal restricted Brighton to just two shots on target, with Gabriel Magalhaes celebrating a late block on Joao Pedro like it was a goal, and it was another stellar defensive display.

Goalkeeper David Raya again had little to do in terms of shot-stopping but did make an excellent save from a strike by Julio Enciso, and he has now made history.

David Raya sets key stats following Arsenal win at Brighton

Arsenal’s trip to Brighton saw them record their fifth consecutive away Premier League clean sheet, having also recorded shutouts at Manchester City, Burnley, Sheffield United and West Ham.

Raya was in goal for all five games, meaning that he became the first Arsenal goalkeeper to ever manage this feat in the entire history of the club.

He is also the first Spanish goalkeeper to achieve this feat, with the likes of Pepe Reina, Manuel Almunia and David De Gea failing to do so during their spells in the Premier League.

Raya now leads the Premier League with 12 clean sheets, despite missing the first few games of the season, as well as both games against his parent club Brentford.

Arsenal’s five consecutive away clean sheets in the league is impressive enough, but this becomes even better when considering that no other side in the country has recorded more than five away clean sheets all season.

The recent form of Mikel Arteta’s side has seen them become the best-performing team in the country, and Arsenal will hope that they can pip Man City and Liverpool to a well-earned title this season.

Raya was subject to criticism when he first arrived, but his ability in the air and his aggressive style have made him vital to Arsenal’s defence, and he has now fully settled at the club..
