Agent of £85m Arsenal striker target to hold 'round of meetings' with interested clubs

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the agent of one Arsenal target is holding talks with interested clubs.

Whilst the season is not yet over, preparations are already being made for the upcoming summer transfer window.

This is certainly true at Arsenal. Sporting director Edu has already revealed that Arsenal have their transfer targets lined up.

Mikel Arteta will also have made decisions on the futures of many of the players in his current squad. For instance, Cedric Soares is set to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer as a free agent. Arsenal are also aware that Aaron Ramsdale is all but guaranteed to depart.

There will be further exits beyond this duo, and of course there will be incomings too. The Gunners are expected to make additions all over the pitch. Ramsdale will need replacing, and adequate cover for Bukayo Saka is required. Arsenal are also due a midfield rebuild.

Arsenal eyeing up Viktor Gyokeres

The need for a new striker has been the real hot topic in North London this season, though. Amongst the host of goalscorers that the Gunners have been linked with, Arsenal are thought to hold a real interest in Viktor Gyokeres.

The 25-year-old has been in sensational form this season. Currently playing his trade for Portuguese outfit Sporting, the Swede has racked up an astonishing 36 goals and 15 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

Of course, this outrageous return means that the player will not come cheap. Sporting are said to want £85 million for Gyokeres, and Arsenal will almost certainly face plenty of competition for his signature.

Said competition may well already be in negotiations with the player. The Gunners could currently be holding talks with his representative, too.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano on X, Gyokeres’ agent, Hasan Çetinkaya, is now set to hold a “round of meetings” with clubs who have an interest in signing his client.

Whether Arsenal are amongst said clubs set to be involved in these meetings is not yet known. What is clear, though, is that there is a high likelihood that Gyokeres will be on the move this summer. He certainly looks ready to test himself at a level beyond the top flight in Portugal.

He has plied his trade in English football before, when he featured for Coventry City in the Championship. He may well now be keen to show that he has what it takes to shine in the Premier League.
