'I can't lie': Gabriel Agbonlahor names the Cetlic player he 'really loves' after watching draw with Rangers

Celtic’s draw with Rangers will be talked about for all the wrong reasons by the fans as they still rue over the VAR decision that could have cost them a vital win at Ibrox yesterday.

The headlines this morning have been dominated by the officials after John Beaton decided to overturn his original decision to book Fabio Silva for diving and award a penalty instead.

In a match fraught with action from the very first minute, the controversy surrounding that one decision alone will, quite rightly, be spoken about to the nth degree probably for the rest of the week.

But for Gabby Agbonlahor, he will remember this Glasgow Derby for one reason and one reason only.

Agbonlahor ‘really loves’ Matt O’Riley and slaughters Rangers

The former Aston Villa man reveals how Matt O’Riley has blown him away after watching his Ibrox performance and it seems not that the Celtic midfielder has a new fan.

Agbonlahor said [talkSPORT], “I can’t lie watching that game, I thought Celtic played really well. I mean, I love watching O’Riley. I think he’s a top player with composure.

“I look at the game, I’m like Rangers, like the quality that they lacked in the first half. I know it’s a derby game and players might be nervous, but even Tavernier on the ball, Wright, Goldson, Lawrence.

“The standard, I feel like I can’t name any Rangers player who would play in the Premier League. Not a prayer.”

I’ll go into O’Riley’s Ibrox performance later today but the Danish international really is starting to find his best form at a crucial point of the season.

O’Riley had gone off the boil around February time as he seemed to be struggling to deliver the quality performances we had become used to over the last few seasons.

But against Rangers yesterday O’Riley was cool as a cucumber when he tucked away his penalty and he produced another masterclass that helped Brendan Rodgers get out of Glasgow’s south side with a crucial point in the race for the title.
