Report: Leeds could offer 'special' star a big wage rise despite already penning new terms this season

Plenty of Leeds United players will be in-demand this summer, even if the club gain promotion to the Premier League. Failure to do so and you can expect a number of Leeds stars to be on their way.

Joe Rodon’s loan move is likely to only become a permanent one if the club gain promotion to the top tier. Cree Summerville, Illan Meslier, Willy Gnonto and Georgi Rutter could attract interest this summer.

The same with Archie Gray, who continues to excel whether that is at right-back or in the middle of the park. Reports state that Leeds are confident Gray will not join another English club if he is to depart.

He only signed a new deal in January, a contract set to expire in June 2028. But his incredible form is likely to see generate interest come the summer – a player that French star Rutter has described as “special”.

Leeds planning to sort out Archie Gray’s future already

Gray has often spoken of his dream of playing in the Premier League and winning trophies for Leeds. So, promotion to the Premier League this summer will see the Leeds-born talent remain at Elland Road.

But, failure to do so and there will be a temptation for Gray to move to the top tier – with plenty of big names linked with a move. However, Leeds are preparing for that eventuality at the moment, it is claimed.

Despite his new deal earlier this year, Give Me Sport say Leeds are planning to hand Gray another a new contract with a signifcant wage rise included. Leeds are willing to pay big wages to tempt him to stay put.

The legacy then, looks like it will continute regardless of promotion. Gray’s Grandfather, Great Uncle and Father have all played for Leeds – while brother Harry is in the academy. He can’t wait to play with him.

Archie Gray recently broke Alan Smith record, and not for Leeds

Such is his incredible burgoening talent and reputation, Gray was called-up to England’s U21 side in the most-recent international break. He won two caps, alongside Charlie Cresswell under Lee Carsley.

It comes after even being namechecked by Gareth Southgate. Coming on against Azerbaijan, Gray got his name on the score sheet in a 5-1 win – scoring aged just 18, and 35 days. He broke Smith’s record.

The youngest Leeds player to score for England’s U21 side, previously held by Smith – who scored against Denmark back in 1999, shortly before his 19th birthday. The records will continue to tumble for Gray.
