'Exciting' gem starts & 32-year-old axed: Predicted Sheffield Wednesday XI v Norwich City - opinion

Here is our predicted starting line-up as Sheffield Wednesday host Norwich City tomorrow night.

Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to pick up back-to-back wins for the first time in a month, having earned a plucky three points against QPR last time out.

It was Djeidi Gassama thatproved to be the hero at Loftus Road, putting the Owls within one point of safety.

Wednesday could finally climb out of the relegation zone if they can cause an upset against the Canaries, with time rapidly running out as they approach the final five games of the campaign.

Norwich could be a much tougher game than the previous though, and Danny Rohl will have to get his team selection spot on if they are to claw their way up the table.

David Wagner’s side have won four of their last five games in the Championship, while they sit four points clear inside the play-off positions.

Here is our predicted XI…

Two changes from the team that beat QPR

James Beadle‘s position in the starting line-up has gone relatively undisturbed since joining on loan, having picked up six clean sheets in 14 starts for Sheffield Wednesday.

The goalkeeper retains his place in the team ahead of his return to Brighton next month.

Dominic Iorfa made the right-back spot his own against QPR and will keep his place over Pol Valentin, while Bambo Diaby, Michael Ihiekwe and Akin Famewo have all done enough to keep the backline the same.

The only way the defence is likely to change is if Di’Shon Bernard and Marvin Johnson return from injury, though their return dates are currently unclear.

Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer take up two places in the midfield, but we could see Michael Smith make way for Will Vaulks. The Owls will want to tighten up their midfield against a much more challenging Norwich team.

Ian Poveda is injured and will be replaced by the deserving Djeidi Gassama, while Josh Windass’ experience and goalscoring record could mean he pips Anthony Musaba to a place on the left.

Ike Ugbo starts up front, searching for his first goal in seven games.
