Denmark to allocate $5.8 million for Ukraine's power grid repairs

Power engineers are preparing for a possible repetition of Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.и

“A Danish contribution of DKK 40 million [$5.8 million] to the Ukrainian energy system is on its way after new, violent Russian attacks on the infrastructure, which have left one million people without power,” the message reads.

The ministry noted that in March, Ukraine experienced the most extensive missile attacks on its energy infrastructure since February 2022.

Denmark considers the intensification of Russian attacks a deliberate attempt to destroy Ukraine's energy supply, which is necessary for the civilian population to receive water, heating, healthcare, and other essential services.

“In terms of energy supply, Ukraine has fared impressively well through the winter,” the message quotes Energy Minister Dan Jorgensen.

“In recent weeks, Russia has chosen to increase its targeted attacks against Ukraine's energy infrastructure, and we have seen widespread destruction.”
