Liverpool interested in signing ‘amazing’ English player who has a ‘huge future’

According to the latest reports, Liverpool are interested in an exciting young English talent this summer.

Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes will have plenty of things to resolve when they begin their work at Liverpool this summer.

There is the first and most essential step in finding Jurgen Klopp’s replacement. Although that now seems to be getting closer and closer with Ruben Amorim.

That will just be the first step, though. FSG have brought in Edwards as the head of football operations, which means they will be looking to buy another club alongside Liverpool.

On top of that, there will also be a hectic summer ahead. There’s expiring contracts to contend with, players possibly wanting to leave and of course new arrivals as well.

Without a shadow of a doubt, this will be one of the most important transfer windows of the last decade for Liverpool. In Hughes and Edwards, thankfully the Reds have two men who definitely have what it takes to get it right.

The latest transfer news around Liverpool

One of the most interesting developments this summer could be in the goalkeeper department for Liverpool.

Alisson Becker will be the Reds’ number one choice for the considerable future. He is one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

Despite the brilliance of Caoimhin Kelleher, the Brazilian will keep his place in the starting XI when he returns from injury.

But that could lead to Kelleher considering his future this summer according to This is Anfield. The report claims Kelleher may be tempted to leave this summer.

If he does, according to the report, Liverpool would be interested in signing an exciting young goalkeeping prospect from the Championship in his place.

Who is Anthony Patterson and why do Liverpool want him?

Patterson is 23-years-old, and he is regarded as one of the brightest young goalkeepers in England. He has represented England’s national team at U21 level and was even involved in the squad for the U21 European Championships.

At Sunderland, he is the club’s first choice goalkeeper and is extremely highly rated. The club’s former manager, Tony Mowbray, has tipped him for a bright future.

“He has got a personality that is good for a goalkeeper. He’s not up bouncing around all of the time. He’s calm, assured and relaxes the back line. He does his job,” Mowbray said as per Sunderland Nation.

“He wants to learn. As his confidence grows, he has got a huge future in front of him. Congratulations to him on his award!”

Mowbray has also praised Patterson’s qualities in another previous interview, describing him as ‘amazing.’

“The goalkeeper… listen, he’s a top goalkeeper,” Mowbray said as per Sunderland Nation.

“I’ve been in football more than 40 years and this kid is a very talented boy who has an amazing temperament.

“Nothing fazes him, he’s very calm about everything, he’s not bouncing all over the place and losing the plot.

“He’s a very calm goalie who makes great saves.”

Based on those comments, it’s easy to see why Liverpool would be interested in signing him.
