'One of the greatest': Kai Havertz says £12m Arsenal player often goes under the radar

Arsenal are preparing for the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday night against German giants Bayern Munich, in a match that includes plenty of sub-plots ahead of the clash at The Emirates.

Leroy Sane comes up against his old assistant manager in Mikel Arteta, with both working together at Manchester City. The German winger commented on working under the Spaniard in a press conference.

Another sub-plot is the 10-2 aggregate score between the two sides back in 2017, and of course the North London rivalry that sees Eric Dier and Harry Kane take on Arsenal. Plenty going on tonight, then.

Kai Havertz is one, too. The 24-year-old made a really difficult start to life in North London following his summer move from Chelsea. But the attacker has come into form of late, six goals in his last 11 games.

Kai Havertz is finally showing why Arsenal signed him in summer

Clocking up 41 games in all competitions, Havertz has had a hand in 15 goals. He now comes up against the biggest club from his home nation, a side that had shown interest in him at the start of the season.

Another Arsenal star in fine form at the moment is Jorginho, who may not start on Tuesday night but has been excellent when starting of late. Talking to Stadium Astro, Havertz raved about the Italian midfielder.

“Jorgi is a player, I don’t even have to speak with him on the pitch. Sometimes I just look at him and we both know what is going to happen. For me, he is one of the best players I’ve played with,” Havertz said.

“Knows my movements, I know his passing. Football is all about goals and assists. He is the mind behind all of us. He sets the tone, given the rhythm. Third in the Ballon d’Or, one of the greatest in his position.”

Havertz isn’t the only one that thinks Jorginho is underrated

Despite playing with injuries this season, Jorginho has impressed in an Arsenal shirt. It is unclear if he will put pen to paper on a new deal, with the likes of AC Milan and Barcelona being linked with a move.

Having been given 90 minutes on Saturday evening against Brighton, it is expected that Jorginho will be on the bench against Bayern – but there is every chance he could come on with 30 minutes or more left.

There is no doubt he is underrated, though. Carlton Cole said it recently, and Paul Merson has said it in the past. Even if he does not start, Arsenal are going to need Jorginho to get past Bayern Munich.
