Alan Shearer left blown away by 'brilliant' Tottenham player who is out on loan right now

Alan Shearer has now been sharing his praise for a Tottenham Hotspur player who is playing his football away from the club on loan this season.

Ange Postecoglou has overseen several players departing the club in search of a better chance to play senior minutes this campagin.

Both Alfie Devine and Ashley Phillips are at Plymouth Argyle looking to forge a first-team path when they return to the club for example.

And considering the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Djed Spence and Joe Rodon will still be under contract when they return in the summer, it will be interesting to see what the club has planned.

In truth it would be a surprise if any of the three senior names above suddenly enjoyed a big turnaround, even if they all have individual qualities.

But perhaps Sergio Reguilon, who switched his Manchester United loan for Brentford in January, could have a better chance of changing the club’s mind.

27-year-old Reguilon has already enjoyed some standout moments in a Brentford shirt, providing three assists in 10 games, and has looked like a real asset.

That being said, Alan Shearer did include the Tottenham defender in his ‘Team of the Week’ following his performance away to Aston Villa.

Two of those three assists mentioned came in the 3-3 draw, and Shearer thought the Spaniard was a menace throughout.

He simply wrote: “A threat all afternoon down Brentford’s left side and produced two brilliant assists.”

Of course, Tottenham fans will probably have their own opinion on whether Reguilon should ever be considered for a role at the club again.

Perhaps he doesn’t quite suit the positional profile that Destiny Udogie is now fulfilling, even if he is still excelling as a more traditional overlapping full-back.

Ryan Sessegnon’s fitness may even play a role in that decision, given Ange Postecoglou still doesn’t have an awful lot of cover in the position right now.

And with European football on the horizon, the Tottenham boss will need a much bigger squad next time around.

That being said, Eric Dier has recently been providing some insight into Ange Postecoglou’s coaching style at the club.
