Man Utd have now done something only one other Premier League club in history have managed

As Manchester United put a dent in Liverpool’s title hopes this past weekend, Erik ten Hag has seen his side do something only done once before.

Sunday saw Manchester United once again involved in a high-scoring, exciting and dramatic game – as we’ve become so accustomed to recently.

A 2-2 draw with Liverpool sees Erik ten Hag‘s side unbeaten this season against Jurgen Klopp’s side with two draws and a win.

The point was earned courtesy of two breathtaking goals first from Bruno Fernandes and second from Kobbie Mainoo.

But while the result is great for United, once again questions can be raised over the performance.

Now, it’s been revealed just how bad the past three displays have been by United, as they’ve achieved something only one other club has done in Premier League history.

What record has Manchester United matched after latest performance?

One problem which has been prevalent in almost every single performance this season for United has been the sheer amount of shots and chances being conceded.

But over the past three games, United have outdone themselves and matched a record that had belonged to Burnley alone.

According to ESPN, the last three games against Brentford, Chelsea and Liverpool have resulted in 87 shots against Andre Onana‘s goal.

This is the joint most over a three-game run in the league’s history, with Sean Dyche’s Burnley the only other side to achieve this unwanted stat back in 2016.

In the past three games, United have also conceded 67 chances and 9.98 expected goals which simply isn’t good enough but shows the value of one man.

How Andre Onana has become the MVP for Erik ten Hag

Amid the awful defensive performances, United have been saved on multiple occasions by Onana, with this past weekend being the prime example.

Liverpool could’ve been four or five up at halftime without Onana.

Over the past three games, Onana has made 16 saves.

Ultimately, these displays go to show how solid Onana has been despite the capitulation around him.

Ten Hag must solve these problems defensively for next season as it’s unfair how he’s had to face so many shots this campaign.
