‘On fire’: Ally McCoist says ‘in-form’ Man City player has been unbelievable recently

Ally McCoist has been left blown away by what one Manchester City player has been doing on the pitch recently.

This evening saw the Citizens draw 3-3 against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

During this thrilling game, one pundit shared some significant praise for one of City’s star figures, highlighting the hot run of form he’s been in recently.

Speaking on TNT Sports, McCoist had this to say about Phil Foden after seeing what he did against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

He said: “He’s one of the in-form players in the world. Dear me, the boy is on fire right now.”

The Englishman scored City’s second goal against Real to put the score at 2-2, before Josko Gvardiol and Federico Valverde got their names on the scoresheet.

This was Foden’s 22nd goal of the season across all competitions and his fifth in the Champions League.

In addition to scoring such a crucial goal for his side at the Bernabeu, the midfielder also managed to successfully complete 43 of the 46 passes he attempted, leaving him with a passing accuracy percentage of 93%.

He’s been one of City’s main stars this season

Looking at his efforts in the Premier League this season, the midfielder has racked up the second-highest number of key passes (61), shot-creating actions (120), goal-creating actions (16) and successful take-ons (42) in the City squad.

This highlights how much of a dangerous and creative attacking force the England international has proved himself to be in Pep Guardiola’s side.

Having scored so many goals at this stage of the season, with City still chasing three major titles, it’s easy to see why McCoist has been so impressed with the 23-year-old and what he’s done on the pitch throughout the campaign.

Moving forward to what could be yet another successful season for the Blues, if Foden can continue to deliver goal contributions and top performances on a regular basis, he’ll give his side a great chance of lifting more silverware.
