'It is completely false': Portuguese journalist reacts after what he's heard about Ruben Amorim and Liverpool

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move to appoint Ruben Amorim as their new manager.

The Reds are on the lookout for a new boss to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer. The German will be on his way out at the end of the season, leaving a huge void to fill.

Michael Edwards has returned to Liverpool and the Reds have appointed Richard Hughes as well. Both of them are looking for a new boss, and Amorim seems to be the favourite.

A journalist from Portugal has now shared the latest on the situation.

Ruben Amorim to Liverpool update emerges from Portugal

Ruben Amorim is one of the most exciting young managers in Europe right now.

The 39-year-old, who won the Portuguese league title in 2021, is on the verge of doing it again. His Sporting Lisbon side are four points clear at the top of the table right now.

Irrespective of what happens in the coming weeks, Amorim will be a wanted man in the summer, and he is said to be the favourite for the Liverpool job.

Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that ‘concrete’ talks have taken place between Amorim and the Reds over a move to Anfield this summer.

The biggest rumour that came out this week is that Amorim had agreed a deal in principle to become the next Liverpool manager.

However, that information has been labelled as ‘false’ by Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda, who has revealed that there has been no direct contact between Amorim and Liverpool.

The journalist claimed that Amorim is fully focused on winning the league with Sporting, and all the negotiations now are going through his agent.

Sepulveda tweeted: “It is completely false that Rúben Amorim was interviewed or had any direct contact with @LFC.

The Portuguese is focused on winning titles at @SportingCP. All negotiations go through his agent. To date, there is NO agreement on the terms of the contract. Negotiations proceed.”

The lucrative offer Liverpool have made to Ruben Amorim

It seems pretty clear that Ruben Amorim is the man Liverpool want as their next boss.

Data analysts have also ranked Amorim as the best option for the Reds to appoint as Jurgen Klopp’s successor – his scores look really good.

Pedro Sepulveda has made it clear that there is no agreement between Amorim and Liverpool, but the Reds have tabled an offer for the Sporting Lisbon boss.

The journalist revealed that Liverpool have offered the 39-year-old a lucrative three-year contract which will see him earning more than twice as much as what Sporting are currently paying him.

That makes this opportunity even more tempting for Amorim, but nothing is done just yet.
