Report: Chelsea chiefs massively rate 24-year-old Brazilian, they’re weighing up move

There are fresh transfer reports emerging that suggest Chelsea chiefs are huge admirers of a Brazilian player who’s recently represented his country for the first time.

Chelsea have a great history with Brazilian stars playing at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues still have South America veteran Thiago Silva in the first-team squad, while Deivid Washington is a youngster on the books to keep an eye out for.

So, could there soon be another Samba star in the dressing room?

Chelsea weighing up move for Brazilian talent

GiveMeSport has claimed that Chelsea are continuing to monitor Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento.

It is explained that Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino has received positive reviews from the club’s scouts about the 24-year-old shot-stopper.

The report says that Chelsea are now beginning to explore whether they could make a move to sign the South American gloveman this summer.

Apparently, Chelsea’s influential figures massively rate Bento, so the club are now weighing up a potential move.

Bento’s yet to play European football and that’s a potential worry against his name, but he did earn two senior Brazil caps last month in friendlies against England and Spain.

The GMS report states Bento is the most talked about goalkeeper target within the Chelsea hierarchy right now, but they need to determine whether he’s good enough to move from the Brazilian division straight to the Premier League.

Chelsea need a change in goal

We’re a little sceptical about the idea of signing Bento, 24, despite his obvious potential. It would be a much safer bet to invest in someone with experience in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez have been battling it out to be Chelsea’s number one keeper this season, with both getting a fair shot. However, we’ve got doubts about the overall quality and aura of both individuals.

If Chelsea want to recapture the days of their former glory, we’d suggests they need a big upgrade in-between the sticks.
