'No, no, no': Micah Richards completely disagrees with what Jamie Carragher said about Arsenal star last night

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka was denied a late penalty against Bayern Munich last night, and Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher have had their say about the incident.

The game at the Emirates Stadium yesterday was a fantastic watch for the neutral.

Arsenal and Bayern both pushed for the win last night, but they had to settle for a draw in the end after goals from Saka, Serge Gnabry, Harry Kane and Leandro Trossard.

The biggest talking point, however, was the penalty shout late in the game after Saka went down inside the box.

Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher discuss Bukayo Saka penalty incident

Big games always have a few controversial incidents, and we definitely saw that when Arsenal hosted Bayern Munich last night.

Harry Kane could’ve well been sent off for an elbow on Gabriel Magalhaes, while Bayern probably should’ve had a penalty after the Brazilian centre-back handled the ball inside the box.

The most controversial incident, however, occurred in the final minute of the game when Thomas Partey put Bukayo Saka through on goal.

The Englishman tried to go around Manuel Neuer, but there was contact between the two players inside the box and Saka went down.

At first glance, it looked like a definite penalty, and many Arsenal fans are still convinced that their side deserved a spot-kick.

However, both Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards claimed on CBS Sports last night that the referee made the right decision because they felt it was Saka who initiated contact with Neuer and not the other way around.

After Richards said it was not a penalty, Carragher asked him: “So you think he (Saka) cheated?”

The former Manchester City man completely disagreed. He said: “No, no, no. I just think he does what all clever forward players do. That’s all.

“Leave my Saka alone.”

Rio Ferdinand’s reaction to Bukayo Saka penalty incident says everything

Everyone at the Emirates Stadium was on their feet last night, expecting the referee to point to the spot after Bukayo Saka was brought down inside the box.

There was clear contact between the Englishman and Manuel Neuer, and while an argument can be made that Saka initiated the touch, replays show that the Bayern Munich goalkeeper moved a step to the right too, in the Arsenal winger’s direction.

The referee, however, decided very quickly that it was not a penalty, and the VAR agreed with the onfield decision.

Rio Ferdinand, who was watching the game from the sidelines, was absolutely shocked that Saka was not given a penalty after what he thought was a clear foul.

“How has that not been given? I can’t believe that it has not been given with VAR,” he said.

“Saka was the most dangerous player for Arsenal; he’s running through there – that is a penalty. I’m in the stadium, I can’t believe it, I’m walking around in disbelief and I’ve got my arms on top of my head!”
