West Ham United’s under-21s took on the PSV Eindhoven youth team in the Premier League International Cup last night.

The West Ham under-21s vs PSV semi-final clash was an eagerly anticipated one, with a place in the final against either Everton or Crystal Palace awaiting.

There are some truly incredible talents amongst the under-21s right now. David Moyes must be delighted at the sheer volume of talented teens coming through the academy.

The next step for some of them will be for them to break through into the senior side and get regular first-team minutes.

There’s a genuine case to be made for all five of those players listed above to be included in Moyes’s squad on a regular basis.

The future at the London Stadium certainly seems very bright indeed. Steve Potts’ side are currently sitting in second place in the table, level on points with league leaders Tottenham.

However, attention switched to the Premier League International Cup last night. We were in action against one of Europe’s top young teams – PSV Eindhoven under-21s.

And one of our players scored an absolute wonder goal…

West Ham whizz-kid scores wonder goal for under-21s vs PSV

The Hammers youngster raced into a two-goal lead inside the first-half against the Dutch side last night.

However, unfortunately for us the PSV youth team came back with a vengeance in the second-half, and ran out as 3-2 winners in the end.

It was a really enjoyable game of football between two very evenly matched sides.

The Hammers youngsters proved to be a really good match for the PSV players, especially with their exceptional technical ability.

One player really stood out for West Ham last night – Lewis Orford. The 18-year-old has come on leaps and bounds this season, and he has already trained with the first-team on multiple occasions.

The talented teenage midfielder was in fine form yet again for us last night against PSV, and he capped off his brilliant performance with a truly stunning goal.

I think we have a real player on our hands in the form of Lewis Orford – he seems to have absolutely everything needed to go on and make it at the very highest level of the game.

The West Ham under-21s came up just short against PSV last night but it will be a game that Orford will never forget, that’s for sure.
