Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s been told about Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville after links with Liverpool

As we move deeper into April, the summer transfer window is coming into view for Liverpool.

For the moment, there remains a huge amount of mystery over what the summer will hold for the Reds. Without Jurgen Klopp for the first time in nine years, who knows what they’ll do.

With Michael Edwards back involved and Richard Hughes bringing his contacts book though, we kind of know a little of what to expect. Uncovering slightly unpolished gems and helping them reach their potential will be the name of the game.

And with that in mind, you can understand why Liverpool have been linked with Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

Summerville has lit up the Championship this year, scoring 17 goals and providing eight assists. The 22-year-old is clearly too good for the second division. Young, putting up good numbers and ever so slightly under the radar, he has Liverpool written all over. Or does he?

What’s the latest on Crysencio Summerville and Liverpool

With Luis Diaz starting to be more regularly linked with a move away from Anfield, you can understand Liverpool being mentioned in connection to new forwards.

Mohmed Salah’s future is also up in the air and the Reds may need to prepare themselves for the Egyptian leaving.

However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, there isn’t too much to say just now in regards to Summerville specifically. Writing in his Daily Briefing today, Romano reports that he’s been ‘told’ that it’s all quiet for now.

“I’ve been asked by some fans about links with Liverpool and others, and for sure many, really many clubs are monitoring Crysencio Summerville ahead of this summer,” he says.

“At the moment I’m told there’s nothing advanced with anyone, but interest will be there. Clubs will push, then it will be up to Leeds United to make a decision in the summer.”

Who is Crysencio Summerville

Some Liverpool fans will need no introduction to Summerville. He is after all the man who inflicted the Reds most recent Premier League defeat at Anfield, back in October 2022.

Others will be less familiar with the Leeds man, so let us introduce him. Born in October 2001, Summerville began his career with Dutch side Feyenoord. He then moved to Elland Road in 2020 and was in and out of the team before truly establishing himself this season.

To date, Summerville has scored 22 goals and laid on 11 assists in 80 appearances for Leeds. Not too bad.

He is a Netherlands U21 international who should have his sights set on making the senior side at some point in the near future. A move to Liverpool would surely help to facilitate that. Let’s see if anything develops.
