Jamie Carragher now shares whether he thinks Arsenal deserved a penalty vs Bayern Munich

Jamie Carragher has now shared whether he thinks Arsenal deserved a penalty after Bukayo Saka collided with Manuel Neuer.

The England international found himself up against the Germany international with seconds to go in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final, but decided to take the ball around the Bayern Munich No.1 rather than have a shot.

There was certainly contact between the Arsenal No.7 and Neuer – although in our view, a lot of that was generated by the Hale End graduate leaving his leg out.

Now, Jamie Carragher has shared whether Bukayo Saka and Arsenal deserved to be awarded a penalty by Glenn Nyberg after the incident…

Well, the 46-year-old was initially discussing the strange moment between David Raya and Gabriel Magalhaes, when the Brazilian picked the ball up despite Nyberg sounding his whistle for play to resume.

However – when challenged by a fan about the incident involving Saka and Neuer – Carragher shared his verdict on that matter in just two words, which you can see below.

The CBS Sports pundit exclaimed “I don’t” after being accused by one Chelsea supporter of thinking Arsenal did deserve a penalty, so he clearly believes Nyberg made the right decision.

In real time, it certainly looked as if Neuer had tripped Saka.

However, when you watch the footage back, you can clearly see that the 38-year-old simply stands his ground, and the 22-year-old dangles a leg out to try and initiate contact.

It was – admittedly – strange that Nyberg decided against going over to have a look at the VAR monitor himself, although we believe the correct decision was made, as does Ian Wright.

Hopefully, Arsenal can put together a more cohesive performance at the Allianz Arena, and reach the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
