'Everyone knows': Blackett-Taylor shares how Derby County dressing room is feeling ahead of Wycombe

Derby County winger Corey Blackett-Taylor has revealed how the dressing room feels ahead of tonight’s clash against Wycombe Wanderers.

Corey Blackett-Taylor arrived at Derby County from Charlton Athletic in January.

The electric winger tore up League One with the Addicks, scoring eight goals and supplying six assists between August and January.

Blackett-Taylor initially struggled to get going at Pride Park as injury niggles prevented him from hitting the ground running.

In his last two matches, however, particularly in the 2-2 draw against Portsmouth, the 26-year-old showcased his incredible talent to the Derby faithful.

His defence-splitting run and assist for Joe Ward‘s goal saw journalist Leigh Curtis praise him as ‘magnificent’ while manager Paul Warne lauded him as a ‘constant threat’.

Blackett-Taylor’s dazzling display against the league leaders showcased his true ability, and the jet-heeled winger has now revealed how the dressing room feels ahead of tonight’s match against Wycombe.

Fellow January arrival Ebou Adams said that the Derby dressing room has made him feel so welcome, and that is a similar notion shared by Blackett-Taylor.

In his pre-match press conference, he said settling in was the “easiest thing” and feels like he’s “known everyone for a long time.”

The dressing room culture at Derby appears to be in good spirits, which is reflected by their performances on the pitch.

With only four matches left, the Rams are just a point ahead of Bolton, but there is an incentive to establish a four-point lead over the Trotters tonight before they host Portsmouth this weekend.

Blackett-Taylor has revealed that, despite pressure mounting on the squad to deliver, everyone is relaxed in the most nerve-shredding period.

“I can only really speak for myself, but I don’t really feel the pressure,” he told RamsTV. “I feel more up for it and I can’t wait to play and attack the matches.

“Everyone is relaxed and calm and looking at each match as just another game. Everyone knows how good we are and what we’ve got and we feel like, if we have the right mindset, we can get the job done.

Corey Blackett-Taylor’s season stats

Derby’s intended destination is the Championship, and Warne signed a Championship-level talent in Blackett-Taylor.

It’s taken him longer than he would have liked to settle, but his display against Pompey and statistics across the season suggest he can play a vital role in the final four games.

Corey Blackett-Taylor’s 23/24 statistics, as per Sofascore.

The levels he showed at Charlton prompted Derby to shell out £300k for him, and while he’s yet to repay that transfer fee, his assist last week indicated his talent. He now has to show it consistently, starting against Wycombe tonight.
