Age

Palmer is currently 21 years old. His birthday is on the 6th of May 2022. He was born in Wythenshawe, Manchester.

Height

Palmer is 6 feet 2 inches tall, which is 1.89 m. His physically imposing nature makes him a handful for the defenders in the air, adding yet another element to his all-round game.

What position does Cole Palmer play?

Palmer is predominantly a right-winger, who can also play as a centre-attacking midfielder. Despite him being left-footed, he’s equally as competent with his right – meaning he can play a variety of positions and still cause dastardly problems for defenders.

Cole Palmer celebration

Palmer first debuted his signature celebration when he netted two against Luton Town in the 23/24 Premier League season.

After both his strikes, Palmer rubbed his arms as if feeling the winter weather, but revealed after the match that it was a nod to his former Manchester City academy team-mate Morgan Rogers.

‘My boy Morgs did one for Middlesbrough, so I told him I’d do it too if I scored,’ explained ‘Cold’ Palmer, dubbed his new nickname after this.

‘I saw the keeper come out and took it round him. Once I’d taken it round the keeper I thought the defender on the line was going to come across fast, so if I waited a second I’d have time to put it in. I was just telling myself to think and keep my composure.’

Who does Cole Palmer support?

It’s speculated that Palmer, despite playing for Chelsea and City, actually supports Manchester United.

Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has claimed Palmer was a fan of the club’s biggest rivals Manchester United after the attacker left for Stamford Bridge in the summer.

“I’ve got to address this,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live before Chelsea faced Man City in 2023. “When Cole Palmer was at City, I thought he was good but I was never fighting for him to be starting. And now I see Cole Palmer at Chelsea, and it makes perfect sense that he’s starting because he’s like the guy, do you know what I mean?

“I just think Cole Palmer will be desperate to do something in this game against City, against his former teammates and his former manager who let him go. And, this is the insight that I know, he’s a United fan as well! You saw him last week, I think he was tapping the badge and all sorts. But this game will be the biggest game that he’s had in his career to this point.”

Who is his idol?

Growing up as a Red Devils fan – Palmer’s idol is Wayne Rooney. He said: “What a player. When I was growing up I used to watch all the football and the one that sticks in my mind is Rooney. Ever since I was a little kid he has been my footballing hero.”
