'There have' – Man Utd legend warns one first-team player 'there's a line' he 'can't cross,' Erik ten Hag would agree

Red Devils legend Bryan Robson has warned one Manchester United star that there is a “line” that he “can’t cross” under current manager Erik ten Hag.

Erik ten Hag has experienced the highs and lows in his second season in charge at Manchester United, with the Dutchman navigating a tough campaign so far.

United’s top-four Premier League hopes are all but over and the Red Devils are unlikely to secure a return to the Champions League for the following season.

However, Ten Hag could still end the season on a high note if United are able to capture the FA Cup trophy, with the Red Devils currently reaching the semi-finals.

The 54-year-old United boss has also had to deal with different players in his first team, including Red Devils loanee Jadon Sancho.

Jadon Sancho was shipped out on loan to Borussia Dortmund in January after he was frozen out of the United first team amid a rift with manager Ten Hag.

However, Bryan Robson has raised his concerns about another United star who has crossed a tightrope with Ten Hag during the current Premier League campaign.

Robson’s warning to Man Utd star

Erik ten Hag has already faced a tough challenge in dealing with Marcus Rashford this season over the Manchester United star’s behaviour off the pitch.

Marcus Rashford, who has come under criticism this season over his form, was heavily criticised after his visit to a nightclub after the Manchester derby defeat.

United suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at Old Trafford last October, with Rashford subsequently spotted clubbing only hours after the loss.

Fast-forward to January 2024 and the 26-year-old United star was at the centre of controversy again after he visited Belfast nightclubs before reporting ill for training.

Rashford missed United’s 4-2 FA Cup win over Newport County due to his illness and Ten Hag was quizzed about the England star’s actions off the field.

Ten Hag insisted that Rashford’s situation was an “internal matter” and that he would “deal” with it, with United later issuing a statement on the whole situation.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Robson has warned Three Lions international Rashford that he needs to ensure that he doesn’t cross the line at Old Trafford.

“There have been a few incidents of him going out in the evening,” he said

“Having fun is part and parcel of a footballer’s life but you need to know there’s a line you can’t cross.”

Man Utd star Rashford defends himself

Rashford has faced mounting criticism over his form and consistency this season, with the off-field behaviour also being spotlighted in his United career so far.

The United forward has staunchly defended himself in the past and insisted that he is the “first one” to put his hand up when he has made a mistake.

Speaking in a piece for The Players’ Tribune in February, Rashford said: “Listen, I’m not a perfect person.

“When I make a mistake, I’ll be the first one to put my hand up and say that I need to do better.

“But if you ever question my commitment to Man United, that’s when I have to speak up.

“It’s like somebody questioning my entire identity, and everything I stand for as a man.

“I grew up here. I have played for this club since I was a boy. My family turned down life-changing money when I was a kid so I could wear this badge.”
