The Belgian has proven himself to be a useful impact player this season. He was certainly able to change the game against Bayern Munich as he buried an equaliser in the bottom corner in the 76th minute. Trossard has been called the best finisher in the Arsenal squad, and he demonstrated his quality in this regard with this vital Champions League strike.

Gabriel Jesus was also hailed for his role in the goal by Arsenal fans. The Brazilian striker showed great skill and awareness in the box to manoeuvre the ball away from a number of Bayern Munich defenders and find Trossard.

Like the former Brighton and Hove Albion man, Jesus was a second half substitute in this match. Arteta was able to change this game with his substitutes, which shows the strength in depth that Arsenal currently have.

Trossard has made a habit of positively impacting games from the bench. In fact, with his strike against Bayern Munich, he took his tally of goals as a substitute so far this season to six. As reported by BBC Sport, no other player in Europe’s top five leagues has scored more goals when coming on off the bench this season.

Whilst he is not a nailed-on starter for the Gunners, the 29-year-old has a vital role to play in this Arsenal squad and he is clearly a big part of Arteta’s plans. Arsenal are now set to offer Trossard a new contract, underlining the high esteem he is held in at the Emirates Stadium.

With Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz both struggling to impress on Tuesday night, it will be fascinating to see if Arteta hands starts to Jesus and Trossard in the second-leg at the Allianz Arena on April 17th.
