Kevin Hart already talks sequel potential for upcoming movie - 'Like nothing you've ever seen'

Kevin Hart stars in the Borderlands movie hitting theaters this summer and he’s long been on the record saying we could see sequels.

For the longest time, seeing Kevin Hart‘s name on a movie poster meant you were guaranteed laughs. Over the years, on the other hand, the popular American actor has branched out with ease, whether that’s in action-adventure flicks like the Jumanji franchise or emotional dramas with hints of comedy like Fatherhood. His star power has risen to incredible heights and only continues to soar, especially with the forthcoming release of the promising blockbuster movie Borderlands.

Kevin Hart stars in blockbuster movie Borderlands based on video-game

Based on the video game series of the same name, Borderlands is an upcoming action comedy that blends in spectacle-embracing sci-fi elements.

It tells the story of Lilith (played by Oscar winner Cate Blanchett), a notorious outlaw who returns to her home planet Pandora in search of a powerful figure’s missing daughter. Once there, she assembles a team of misfits to aid her in her quest, and on that team is a former elite mercenary named Roland, played by Kevin.

Together, the team is faced with taking down aliens and all kinds of threats to save their skin.

Directed by Eli Roth (Hostel, Thanksgiving), it’s sure to be one of the biggest movies of the summer and the trailers have teased high-octane mayhem with plenty of jaw-dropping action scenes.

Kevin Hart teases Borderlands sequels

The trailers may have teased lots of explosive fun, but Kevin himself has already taken it upon himself to tease sequels long before the first movie’s release in theaters.

When the Philadelphia-born actor and comedian sat down with IGN, he made no hesitation when addressing the movie’s considerable franchise potential.

“I can say visually, it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen,” he announced. “Somehow I find myself in these spaces where you get a part of these IPs that are hitting the big screen and have the potential to become so much more… Borderlands, nobody knows what to expect, but if this thing comes and it smacks people correctly, you could be looking at Borderlands 2, Borderlands 3.”

And if you think that even now it’s far too early to say, well Hart’s comment directly after may combat that: “It’s that good.”

Borderlands opens in theaters on Friday, August 9th 2024.
