Prince William has been 'depending on Kate Middleton' but now that's 'different'

Prince William won’t be able to depend on his wife Kate Middleton any longer, a royal expert has claimed.

The Prince of Wales, who is currently supporting Kate Middleton as she battles cancer, has been seen attending events for the Crown on his lonesome. The 42-year-old has made a number of appearances without the fellow royal since the New Year. Prince William also apologized for his wife’s absence at one award show before she broke the news over her diagnosis last month. In an emotional clip, she told the world she had been diagnosed with a form of cancer, and had been taking time to deal with the news, while focusing on her health. She also discussed how the couple wanted to have patience to find the best way to break the news to their children.

Prince William can’t depend on Kate Middleton for royal duties, expert says

The summer months are typically the busiest time for The Firm.

Especially for the Prince and Princess of Wales as their children are on summer break from school so they have more time over juggling their busy lives.

However, royal expert, Daniela Elser, believes this year will be different.

Kensington Palace explained Kate would be out of action until after Easter, when she underwent planned abdominal surgery in January. However, now she has been told she has a type of cancer, she could be out of the loop for even longer while she undergoes treatment.

The 42-year-old explained she is having preventative chemotherapy.

On the palace’s royal diary, there are no listed events for William until the end of June on the calendar. Royals are still plodding along as normal though, with the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, doing her bit to take the crown as most ‘hard-working royal’.

Elser says, once William comes back to the royal fold, Kate is less likely to be by his side now.

Elser writes: “Whether the King is there or not, the image of William taking his place on the world stage for an event that will include Presidents and Prime Ministers by the dozen will be something of a watershed moment after years of the Waleses working as a well-oiled unit for official and State occasions.

“For the past 13 years, since the Waleses wedding, the prince has been able to generally depend on his wife to be by his side as he has increased his public role and began the gradual, irrevocable trudge towards the throne.

“This year will be an entirely different matter.”

Kate won’t be back to business for a while

The 42-year-old is often seen at Wimbledon, usually with her sister Pippa Middleton, as well as Royal Ascot, Buckingham Palace garden parties and Chelsea Flower Show. However, these could now be off the cards.

Royals will also plan to travel to Normandy for the 80th anniversary commemoration of the D-Day landings in June.

At the end of last month, reports noted King Charles and William will travel to France to honor the sacrifices of the Second World War generation. As there are stirrings of the monarch making the trip while also being treated for cancer, it could mean Kate won’t be by their side as she’s not included, according to sources.

Insiders say the King is working to build up key engagements as the summer approaches under medical supervision. But it may not be the same for Kate.
