‘Tremendous’: Rio Ferdinand says £27m Arsenal player has an incredible mentality

Arsenal showed an incredible mentality to get a draw with Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.

The Gunners were 2-1 down at half-time, and many were fearing the worst after those famous 5-1 defeats to Bayern Munich all those years ago.

However, Arsenal battled back to earn a draw, and, in the eyes of some, they should’ve won the game late on when a penalty decision didn’t go their way.

Regardless of the late refereeing controversy, Arsenal did brilliantly to come back and make this game 2-2, and after the match, speaking on TNT Sports, Rio Ferdinand praised one player in particular.

Rio Ferdinand praises Arsenal star

The pundit spoke highly of Leandro Trossard, claiming that the Belgian has an incredible mentality to continuously come off the bench and make a massive impact

“Absolutely, you need to be a certain type of character to come off the bench and impact game after game. He doesn’t seem to be someone whose head goes down when he’s made a sub. He says he’s going to impact the game at some point and make it difficult for the manager to keep doing it, and he’s doing a tremendous job of it,” Ferdinand said.

Leandro Trossard is so important

Leandro Trossard may not be the first name on the teamsheet at Arsenal, but make no mistake about it, he’s vitally important to the Gunners’ success this season.

His constant ability to make things happen off the bench makes him such an important weapon for Mikel Arteta, and it adds a whole new dynamic to the attack when the team are struggling.

Substitutions can win you these important games, and Trossard’s goal against Bayern Munich on Tuesday is yet another example of what he can bring to this team in the big moments.

Trossard is a top player, and as Ferdinand says, his mentality is perfect in his current role as a super sub.
