N.J. house, mobile home torched by overnight fire

Both a house and mobile home on a secluded South Jersey property early Wednesday morning were destroyed by raging flames seen by bystanders from a residential street through sets of trees.

The fire happened around 12:17 a.m. in the 3000 block of Ivins Avenue in Egg Harbor Township, said the Cardiff Fire Department, a volunteer agency that covers part of the municipality and responded to the property.

A picture taken by firefighters shows flames erupting from a single-story home a short distance from the street. Another shows the blaze’s aftermath, showing one of the structures with its siding melted away and its interior blackened.

It was unclear Wednesday if anyone was inside either structure at the time of the fire. Both buildings were fully involved in flames by the time first responders arrived, firefighters said.

Township fire inspectors and police are investigating the fire’s cause.
