The invaders are settling Russian military personnel and families of Russian workers in the occupied territories. Additionally, they сonfiscate housing of deported Ukrainian citizens, according to the National Resistance Center.
"The occupiers dispose of the property of Ukrainians who were forced to flee the occupied territories at their discretion. The housing of Ukrainians is being 'nationalized' and settled by Russian military personnel or civilians who came to the cities to work," the statement said.
It is known that recently the so-called 'People's Council of Luhansk People's Republic' adopted a law that 'regulates' the transfer of apartments to state ownership, which appealed to the occupiers and created a registry of such housing. This list includes thousands of abandoned apartments.
According to the Center, the occupiers also resort to this practice in Mariupol.
"Here, the occupiers issued a 'decree' for a complete inventory of apartment and private houses and began inspections of the dwellings. Houses whose owners are not found are listed separately. Empty apartments are also being searched for nationalization in Zaporizhzhia," the National Resistance Center reports. The Russians also do not hesitate to take away apartments from those residents of the temporarily occupied territories whom they have deported to Russia.
Eviction of Ukrainians on the temporarily occupied territories
Russians in the temporarily occupied territories evict residents to move into their homes. For instance, in Brylivka, Kherson region, occupants evicted residents from their homes near the railway station to prevent locals from reporting the movement of occupiers' equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Moreover, Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov reported that in the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia region, Russians settle their people in apartments and houses taken from locals.
