'Best player by a distance', '8/10': Local media hails 20-year-old Chelsea loanee after last night's display

While Chelsea’s first-team squad struggles to turnaround a mediocre season, the Blues do have some players out on loan enjoying a much better time.

The Blues have reaped the rewards of the loan system over so many years, with the likes of Reece James and Conor Gallagher both fine examples of the development made away from Stamford Bridge.

Incidentally, The Athletic recently claimed that Chelsea have already decided they’ll be sending Alfie Gilchrist out on loan next season. Let’s hope the 20-year-old defender can replicate the success of some other Blues-owned talents.

Chelsea youngster currently shining in the Championship

Omari Hutchinson, who’s aged just 20, is taking giant strides forward in his game during a season-long loan at Championship club Ipswich Town.

The skilful attacker has been playing regularly this campaign and contributing to a promotion bid that’s going down to the wire.

He’s already played 46 matches this year for Ipswich, contributing eight goals and six assists.

Omari Hutchinson impresses last night

Hutchinson completed 90 minutes on Wednesday night during Ipswich’s goalless draw at home to Watford.

They missed the chance to return to the top of the Championship table, but they sneaked back into the second automatic promotion position with four games left to play.

Despite Ipswich missing a big opportunity, Hutchinson stood out for his eye-catching efforts as the central playmaker.

Local media raved about the 20-year-old Chelsea loanee after his display versus Watford last night.

East Anglian Daily Times wrote on Hutchinson: “Stayed in the XII but shifted to the 10 spot, with Conor Chaplin sitting out. Likes to drift out right in that role, and glided into the box from wide with some nifty footwork after 25 minutes before almost creating something from nothing down the centre seconds later. Set up Broadhead to hit the post as he and the Welshman flexed their creative muscles before half-time. When he’s running with the ball at his feet he is exhilarating, and was clearly the most likely to create something in the second-half as he buzzed around. Town’s best player by a distance. 8/10.”
